Leading Consumer Products Company Transforms Supply Chain with Unique Automated Vendor Managed Inventory Project

The industry leading consumer product company needed to improve the performance of a 2-stage inventory replenishment system where railcars were used to transport containerized raw materials across international borders to a rail yard which served as intermediate storage. Elemica helped to smooth a reliable supply of materials to the plant by automating a closed loop system that would scale across plants, products and suppliers. Elemica’s VMI solution was configured to support monitoring inventory data from SAP. Most of the company’s suppliers were already connected to the Elemica Digital Supply Network, making it easier for them to receive orders, send confirmations and transmit ship notices. The results were a reduction of inventory on-hand, lower safety stock and reduced stock outs.
