Sourcing Manager (f/m)

Elemica is looking for a Sourcing Manager to work with the European Sourcing team: this role works as an interface between the customer (mainly the purchasing organization staff) and the suppliers interested in delivering products and or services. The Sourcing Manager acts as an extension of the purchasing organization of the Elemica Customers, helping in the opportunity discovery and assessment, strategic and tactical planning of projects. The Sourcing Manager is responsible for the execution, analysis and final reporting of results and recommendations to the customer.

The Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans to support the customer buyers in their projects
  • Prepare, own and execute the majority of Sourcing events/projects together with the member’s buyer
  • Organize and execute regular visits with buyers and key contacts within the company
    • Use good judgment when deciding about cost benefit for customer visits, ensuring the resources of Elemica are maximized
  • Communicate effectively and build relationships inside our customer organizations
    • Demonstrate ability to handle regular communication to stakeholders and project leaders, clear and consistent communication
    • Possess and usability to convince and influence others to take a decision in achieving  goals and objectives while preserving confidentiality
    • Speak the language of a buyer, have the terminology and knowledge of the subject, have credibility through communication and actions
    • Use all forms of communication and be able to determine the best way of transferring information to project teams and stakeholders
  • Manage all project schedules and deadlines according to Elemica Sourcing processes and guidelines in the European office
    • Consistently utilize the Elemica Sourcing processes or the customer preferred Sourcing steps in the execution of projects
    • Use templates and formats to scope, execute, report and close Sourcing projects
    • Follow specific rules, policies and guidelines in the execution of projects and ensure security and confidentiality policies are applied and respected
    • Demonstrate ability to manage complex projects, multi-site, regional and potential global projects with little supervision
  • Manage and execute other member or multi-member events when required
    • Consistently seek opportunities to collaborate and aggregate Sourcing spend
    • Encourage customers and purchasing staff to think about regional projects
    • Use the information sharing policy to explain and gain confidence from customers to collaborate and aggregate with other customers
  • ‘Sell’ Elemica professional services via presentations and relationship development at team lead buyer levels
    • Demonstrate this ability by continuously bringing new projects from current customers or new customers to Elemica
  • Together with the account team, develop and implement Account Plans and ensure milestones are met
  • Together with Elemica’s Sr. management, provide answers to Member’s requests on new services or initiatives
  • Act as bridge between the accounts and the other Elemica staff and category experts, enabling communication and knowledge sharing.

The Experience and Skills Required

  • BS University degree, MBA is desired
  • Minimum of 5 years of Sourcing experience (especially purchasing process and negotiation in the area of services, indirect materials, or capital equipment)
  • Elemica prefers to have Sourcing Managers that have an area of specific Knowledge like MRO purchasing, Services purchasing, Capital Equipment or Engineering services.
  • Strong leadership skills combined with a consistent work ethic
  • Ability to work at different levels of management, from Purchasing to Vice President levels in procurement organizations
  • Strong self-management and ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Demonstration of ability to work in a team format, taking tasks and contribute to achieving success for the team
    • Ability to proactively offer help to team mates and peers
    • Ability to delegate and manage through collaboration
  • Consistently meet deadlines and commitments
  • Ability to create in short time frame high levels of trust, maintain confidentiality and work accurately
  • Ability to escalate to upper management when there is a higher risks on decisions
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage several projects and accounts simultaneously
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Ability to present in-front of audiences that are subject matter experts
  • Languages: fluent in English and in French, additional European languages are a plus
  • Excellent computer skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Minimum of 3 years in a customer or client interfacing role (consulting experience preferred)
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to take decisions of low impact on projects
  • Customer oriented

The Experience and Skills Desired

  • Experience with e-Sourcing systems (e.g. Ariba, Emptoris, Iasta, Procury, SAP SRM)
  • Experience with Ivalua Procurement Empowerment Platform
  • Good knowledge about RFP’s, RFQ’s and RFI’s
  • Good understanding of Reverse and Forward Auctioning

  • Excellent customer relationship and problem solver skills with the specific ability to take decisions of low impact on projects
